About Us
Formed in 2000, Woodmont is an SEC-Registered Investment Adviser based in Nashville, Tennessee. We manage equity and fixed-income investment portfolios for individuals, endowments, foundations, retirement plans, trusts and corporations located throughout the United States. Our investing philosophy combines decades of equity and fixed-income portfolio management experience and an attractive fee structure with a disciplined yet opportunistic approach. Woodmont is 100% employee-owned.
The Changing World of Investments
Investing grows more complex each year. In addition to stocks and bonds, there are now inflation-indexed bonds, mortgage-backed bonds, zero coupon bonds, preferred stocks, convertible preferred stocks, international stocks and bonds, annuities, derivatives, master limited partnerships, private equity funds, hedge funds, mutual funds (both load and no-load), index funds and exchange traded funds (ETFs).
These investment alternatives may reduce or increase risk in a portfolio. They may be cost-efficient or expensive. They may or may not help achieve your investment goals. They may even place roadblocks on your path to financial security.
Who Looks After Your Interests?
How do you know which investments are best for you—not just “suitable,” but best? Is a company recommending a particular security looking after your interests or its own? Are its employees experienced and objective investors, or are they salesmen whose compensation is determined by the products they sell?
Personalized Wealth Management and Counseling
Woodmont was established for one purpose: to invest as fiduciaries on behalf of our clients. We build portfolios based solely on our experience in financial markets and our knowledge of each client's unique circumstances and goals. In an investing world where high fees, compounded over time, can have significant future investment income ramifications, Woodmont focuses on avoiding the all-too-common occurrence of paying high fees for poor results.
Woodmont is a fee-based investment management and counseling firm. Fees, based on the value of investments we manage, are our only source of income. We never receive 12.b.1 charges, commissions, mark-ups on bonds or other revenue that creates conflicts of interest with our clients.
We are not bankers, brokers, or underwriters. Clients select a bank or broker to hold their securities, typically a reputable discount brokerage firm. We also do not sell financial products like mutual funds, insurance, and annuities. As SEC-registered investment advisers under the 1940 Act, we are (unlike brokers, bankers, and insurance companies) required to place our clients’ interest first at all times, to disclose all costs, and to disclose all conflicts of interests.
