Our Services

Our only business (and sole source of income) is providing fee-based investment management.

For most clients, a Woodmont relationship includes counseling on:

  • Insurance needs
  • Associated financial matters: estate, business, tax, and retirement planning
  • Any other issues that may bear upon the prudent management of the portfolio

We Know Our Clients.

Before executing the first transactions for clients, we acquire a thorough understanding of their financial circumstances and investment goals. This includes, as noted above, the family's estate/business/tax/retirement planning, insurance needs, and related matters.  If we see gaps that should be addressed, we work with the client's legal, accounting, and other advisers or we make referrals to those who have the necessary expertise.

Together, We Establish Your Investment Policy.

After familiarizing ourselves with clients’ circumstances, goals, and ability/willingness to assume risk, we present a tailored investment strategy and asset allocation plan.  We establish the appropriate stock/bond ratio as well as, within the equity component, setting diversification guidelines among various sectors including large, mid, and small-capitalization, growth, value, and international.

We are the sole manager for most clients.  However, if a client has other investment managers, we adjust allocations accordingly in the Woodmont portfolio.  If a client has more than one account (for example, a personal trust, an IRA, and a family foundation), we establish separate investment policies for each as appropriate.

We Build and Manage Your Portfolio.

After the client approves our recommended investment strategy, we build the portfolio using individual stocks and bonds, exchange traded funds (ETFs), no-load mutual funds and, where appropriate, alternative investments including REITs, commodities and hedge funds.

We Provide Clear Communication and Reporting.

Clients receive monthly statements from their broker/custodian. In addition, we provide quarterly appraisals which clients find both clearer and more comprehensive than most brokerage statements.

Woodmont reports detail:

  • The date-of-purchase and cost basis for each security
  • Market value and income yield
  • Performance for the account.

We track all activity including income earned, contributions, withdrawals and capital gains.

We meet regularly to ensure clients remain well-informed about the portfolio and that we stay informed about changes in the client's circumstances and goals that might affect our management of the portfolio.

Our Fees Are Transparent.

Our fee is based on our advisory services with a maximum rate of 1% annually of client account market value. Related accounts are combined for billing purposes. Clients can pay by check or authorize us to debit their brokerage account. With either method, we send a quarterly fee statement and annual summary. Clients should consult their tax advisers first, but for most individuals, our fee is fully or partially tax-deductible.
